As I see it, or rather have read it on here amongst the reams of literature I've gone through, I need to port forward. The firewall on it is switched off, as is my firewall on my own laptop. I have a belkin router running 3 computers off it. I've read the faq's and I'm going around in circles. I'm not a complete flid, but I do feel it at the moment. I just tried logging on to a page on my computer with a different computer on the network, and it worked perfectly, but when i used one outside the netwoork it failed, so i think it must be the router.

Has anyone seen this problem with a belkin router (or any other) before? any possible solutions?

I have a belkin F5D7633-4 router, and tried port forwarding on it (for transmission and streaming with vlc) however it doesnt seem to forward the ports properly for some reason.Īffter forwarding them i wait a while (just to be sure) and then go on a port checker to see if its open and they say closed nearly every time! i have checked on other OS's with all firewalls off and everything, but it still fails! Sorry if this shouldnt be here as it isnt ubuntu related really but i am really struggling with this!!
